Destiny 2 Will Be Free To Play On Stadia
Destiny 2 is set to be completely Free To Play on Google Stadia starting this week.
Google Stadia has decided because it is their first anniversary, they would celebrate by giving fans with an account the chance to play the incredibly popular Destiny 2 for free.
The game will be free to play from the 19th of November and will come with no hidden fees. You don’t need to be a subscriber of Google Stadia to get the game but if you aren’t a subscriber there will be some limitations.
These limitations include the fact that you will be regulated to 1080p resolution.
Fans who decide to obtain the game will also get access to numerous Stadia perks, including being able to play across various devices. The Stadia version will unfortunately not support cross-play multiplayer modes though.
The official announcement on the Stadia blog said that this free experience includes the “core Destiny 2 experience,” this suggests that none of the expansions or DLC’s will be included.
Anyone with an account for the Stadia cloud-gaming service will be able to play Destiny 2: New Light, which features the core free-to-play game with no expansions. The game is already free to play on Steam and other similar services, but this is the first time Google Stadia has made a title free.
It is interesting to note that Stadia’s Destiny 2 player base has been really erratic over the past year with the player base dropping by 50% in January. This means their player base came down to about 8000 players in total. This move suggests an attempt to get those numbers back up in a hurry.
The social experience has been affected adversely by the lack of Crossplay combined with the lowering player base. Yet it seems this free-to-play move gives players who’ve yet to experience Google Stadia a chance to finally try out its features.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with Destiny 2 (also known as Destiny 2: New Light. The game is set in a “mythic science fiction” world, the game features a multiplayer “shared-world” environment with elements of role-playing games.
Like the original, activities in Destiny 2 are divided among player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) game types.
In addition to normal story missions, PvE features three-player “strikes” and six-player raids. A free roam patrol mode is also available for each planet and features public events as well as activities not featured in the original.
It is worth getting a Google Stadia account just to experience this intense First-Person-Shooter first hand.
