Halo Infinite To Get Cross-Play

Halo Infinite To Get Cross-Play

Halo Infinite will reportedly support Cross-Play and cross-progression as well as other nifty features.

Microsoft has announced via a blog post that when Halo Infinite launches for PC later this year the game will support multiplayer Cross-play and cross-progression.

Microsoft said in the blog post: “ We have been working closely with the PC community to ensure that Halo Infinite offers a premier PC experience, including highly desired features such as support for ultrawide and super ultrawide screens, triple keybinds, a wide variety of advanced graphics options and more. We want to make sure that Halo is serving the PC community.”

They added that they will also be using the cloud to make “console gaming accessible on even more PCs”. It’s yet another move by Microsoft demonstrating its desire to bring Xbox games to multiple platforms.

Phil Spencer has always been vocal about his desire to go cross-platform and has even been quoted as saying: ‘console tribalism is “one of the worst things about” the video game industry.”

This is shown by the following paragraph on the post: “If you were to walk the (virtual) halls at Xbox today, I think you’d find that to us, the idea of the “player” has come to mean someone who plays many kinds of games on many different devices. PC gaming is part of this; “player first” has to apply for PC, as well, and to that end we’ve been making investments across the PC gaming ecosystem to ensure that PC is a key part of how people can play games.”

Halo Infinite To Get Cross-Play

This inclusivity is good news for PC users, and it also makes good business sense for Microsoft, as PC has a large consumer base and is a somewhat untapped market.

Halo Infinite will be a First-person shooter that picks up the story of the Master Chief, following Halo 5: Guardians. Master Chief returns in his greatest adventure yet to save humanity. The story will be set on a Halo ring that has mysteriously been damaged, and it will also feature Master Chief’s MJOLNIR armor, which will return to its Halo 2 and Halo 3 configuration. This Halo ring was later verified by 343 Industries to be Installation 07 (also known as Zeta Halo). The Banished, a violent Brute-led mercenary organization first seen in Halo Wars 2, appear as enemies. The release date for Halo Infinite is set for later this year.
