LG Confirms Its New Smartphone Is Called The LG Wing
The new Swiveling Smartphone will be unveiled in September.
After months of speculation and a teaser video that was shown last week, LG has now confirmed that its new Smartphone will have a swiveling second screen and will be named the LG Wing.
This innovative new device seems to have two screens that swivel and what looks like a sliding mechanism that is able to rotate the device into a T shape.
Apparently, some of the new features included in this new mobile device will be 5G support, a triple-rear camera array with a 64-megapixel main sensor, and it will reportedly run on a Snapdragon 765 or 764g series processor.
The rotating screen concept is not a new one for LG, remember the LG LU1400 released ten years ago? The L LU1400’s screen rotated to expose the keyboard and this time around the rotated screen will expose an entirely new screen.
The LG Wing is going to be LG’s first ever device that will be launched under the Explorer Project banner.
The Explorer Project will be a series of “devices that will deliver distinctive and yet unexplored usability experiences” that it claims will forge “uncharted territory in the industry.” The Explorer Project will be a new mobile category aimed at “discovering new ways to interact with mobile devices… and challenging established user norms.”
The company wrote in a recent press statement:
“LG’s boldest, newest smartphone will deliver a new and different form factor and mobile experience that would be impossible to create with conventional smartphones.”
The cost of this beauty is rumoured to be between $1,000 and $ 1,600 at launch so between R16 000 and R28 000, which is a hefty price tag by any means.
This new mobile device is anything but banal, with its sliding screens, T-shape, and amazing capabilities. Will this be the future for Smartphones? Only time will tell if this design will have any kind of longevity.
