Nvidia Boosts Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Frame Rate By 85%
Nvidia announces new games that will get the DLSS treatment, boosting performance up to 85% on Call Of Duty: Cold War and up to 120% at 4k on other titles.
What is DLSS?
DLSS stands for Deep Learning Super Sampling and according to the Nvidia website, DLSS is:
“an NVIDIA RTX technology that uses the power of AI to boost your frame rates in games with graphically-intensive workloads. With DLSS, gamers can use higher resolutions and settings while still maintaining solid framerates.”
DLSS has come along way since its humble beginnings and is now a lot more accomplished not just for performance but for fidelity too.
“Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing gaming – from in-game physics and animation simulation to real-time rendering and AI-assisted broadcasting features. And Nvidia is at the forefront of this field, bringing gamers, scientists and creators incredible advancements” according to Nvidia.
When the technology was added to Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War the performance was boosted by 85% at 4K resolution, it also improved system latency by 20% which will, of course, be helpful in Multiplayer scenarios.
Other games that benefited from the DLSS improvements include the Vehicular Combat multiplayer War Thunder which had reported improvements of 30% at 4K.
The MMO First Person Shooter Enlisted had a slightly better result with a 55% boost.
The biggest performer of the four titles was the intense, tactical, first-person shooter Ready Or Not. Nvidia Claimed a massive 120 % boost at 4K for this game. For the 3070 graphics card, it means a jump from a marginally playable 29.7fps at 4K Max with ray tracing to an amazing 71.4fps.
In other news, Fortnite will be getting a new custom ray-tracing enabled map called ‘RTX Deathrun’. This is reportedly being released today (the 18th of November). To access this new map, you can use map code 2623-0157-9251.
Nvidia reportedly said: “throughout this Deathrun, players will experience different ray-traced features. The first environment, the Shattered Reality, is brought to life through ray-traced reflections.
In the Mystic Cave, lighting effects are more realistic than ever with ray-traced shadows. Thanks to ray-traced global illumination, the Military Base area is enhanced by real-time, interactive, indirect lighting, adding more detail. While exploring these environments, players will work to avoid obstacles and try to complete the Deathrun as fast as they can!”
With these four new titles added to DLSS, there will now be more than 25 titles that support DLSS technology and this number will undoubtedly increase exponentially as time goes on.
