Gameplay & Controls:

The game plays perfectly with the keyboard and mouse, the default layout has been chosen very well, making the gameplay fun and without hinderance. The layout can be remapped to your liking if you have a special preference.

For those that enjoy using a controller, fret not this gem plays beautifully on a controller, with full controller support, what else can you expect? There are some remapping options, depending on the platform you play on and the controller you use.

Chances are if you are reading this review, it is because like myself you have been waiting for the sequel to the previous gem in this amazing series. The wait is over, because it is here now and boy oh boy are you going to be surprised.

The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt is the Epic follow up and conclusion to the amazing series that we have been enjoying over these years. We have here the same amazing game concept that we have enjoyed in the previous titles, just majorly improved and updated in every aspect to bring us the same amazing game, just with so much more.

There is so much beauty in this game!

Combat and all its mechanics have been updated and improved to bring you the same fun and enticing method of taking down all those that oppose you, with new and updated mechanics including numerous finishers moves. The levelling and skills system also received some changes giving you more build options and choices in specializing in certain skills and abilities. This plus the massive updated item and crafting system allows for a new blend of RPG in this Witcher title, we have set items, item durability’s and so much more this time around.

There is so much lore in this game that it answers so many questions and fills in so many gaps that we have unravelled in previous titles. The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt really brings this Epic Saga to a conclusion in all the best ways, there are so many choices that no two gameplays can ever be the same.

We can say with clarity that CD PROJEKT RED has gone above and beyond to bring an EPIC conclusion to one of the best stories ever told…

Enjoy a stormy boat ride.

One of the biggest monsters in this gem is the REDengine 3; It’s power and capabilities have set a new standard for next generation gaming. We have generous Dynamic Weather, that displays several different conditions beautifully and very realistically as you go about your business in the game.  Whether it is a sunny day or a stormy afternoon, it is going to be a beautiful sight to witness.

The Day and night cycle is another spectacular aspect pf this game; the realism behind it is incredible. And in all honesty, it adds so much realism to your exploration and generally gaming. Humans and monsters alike have different behaviours which can be experienced as the weather and time of day changes.

The pieces coming together.

Let us not forget the stunning visual effects and visuals of this game, be it the character models and designs or the world itself. Each aspect of this game was masterfully crafted to deliver to us one jaw dropping beautiful game. The facial features that the game has for its characters are on a whole other level, you can see the emotion on their faces, be it sadness, fear or anger… It is remarkable.

Whether you are traveling on horseback or by boat the scenery is going to be fantastic, rushing waves as you explore for sunken treasures, mountain passes leading long forgotten caves full of dark and dangerous secrets, emphasis on the dark, the rending as you explore these dark areas ads thrill and a different kind of excitement to the game, especially when you know what dangerous beast lurks within.

Magic up close!

Superb, simply breath-taking! Every sound, note and effect has been chosen remarkably well to bring this title to live in a way that we haven’t experienced before. Rain showers are as realistic as one you’d experience outside your own window. Thunderstorms can send a shiver down your spine if the surround sound is up to par.

As you track your prey through the dark shadow filled woods, you can hear the shrieks from monsters, be it the one you are tracking or others just waiting for dinner to pass by.

The soundtrack is what truly ads to the game, this game is so large with so much to explore and discover that one easily gets side-tracked by new finds, but the trusty soundtrack is here at your back making sure every step of this incredible journey is accompanied by masterful tunes.

Sating goodbye isn’t always easy.

This biggest let down that The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt has is the lack of a New Game + feature, however, there are so many quests to complete that it will take you a great amount of time to truly complete it to 100%

There are numerous crafting diagrams to track down which requires thorough exploration of the world so if you add all of that, plus the unique items and insane amount of quests and other to do’s that the game offers it easily makes up for the New Game + feature.

MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
Spoilers ahead:

Welcome to The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt, a gem you will never forget!

The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt is easily one of the best games ever made; and this is not due to one specific accomplishment, but to the game itself. Every aspect of The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt has been crafted to represent and present the best possible game to the gaming community and that is exactly what CD Project Red achieved.

Even though this is the sequel to The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, one can easily say that it is almost hard to see the resemblance, and not because there was anything wrong with the previous title. They just went and added so much more to the latest one.

They are here!

Treasure Hunts, sets you off on mini quests tracking down treasures of all kinds, be it weapons, gear or ingredients and crafting equipment. If you are fortunate enough it might just be the hunt that sends you tracking down Witcher School gear. The new level and ability system require some testing and experimenting to fully master and understand.

The way that this was implemented offers so much more in terms of RPG Elements and character builds, the equipment and gear offer specific boosts and passives to certain builds giving you many custom build options. Whether you prefer to be an offensive fighter that specializes in swords or magic or a bit of both, the game allows you to create and set up your character build to your own liking, you truly have the option to be all you can be this time around.

Monster Slayer has a new meaning in this instalment, there are so many contracts to hunt down “Boss” type monster that it will keep you busy for hours, making every trophy you take memorable.

Not every monster deserves to die.

The story is so much more juicer than before, there are so many options and conclusions that it can drive one wild. There is politics, betrayal and a little bit of everything else. Just as before the game has numerous endings that all depend on the choices you make in the game which in itself leaves the outcome of the game entirely in your hand.

This is where I leave you now, it is time for you to prepare for a journey like no other.
