Design and Build:
WD is well known for their capable, and long lasting drives. This only got better and better as technology advanced. Today WD sports numerous HDD types, each specializing in unique storage environments.
WD Blue; the perfect storage device to store and house all those important and not so important files. Whether they are pictures or photos, music, or memorable video clips. The WD Blue was made to take care of these.
The actual drive does not sport any fancy features or visuals, It looks pretty much the same as any other standard HDD, except for the technical details and WD Blue Logo on it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. It will be tucked into your tower, invisible to the eye. After all, it is what’s on the inside that matters here.
WD has always used high quality components to make their drives. The longevity of these drives attests to that fact.

She might not be an SSD, but she performs beautifully, and quite fast. Featuring 64MB Cache and a rotation speed of 5400 RPM. Further improving on these impressive numbers is a transfer rate of 6GB per second. Quite extraordinary speeds for sure.
These drives are the perfect add ons to run as secondary drives to your SSD’s. It is not limited however; they are perfectly capable of running as your primary drive if an SSD is not present.
Temperature (°C, on the base casting):
- Operating: 0 to 60
- Non-operating: -40 to 70
Heating will not be an issue as you can see here. She will not overheat on you, or slow you down in any way whatsoever.
MGR Gaming’s Conclusions:
This beauty is rather incredible and then some. She offers speed, a whole lot of space, and pure bliss to work on. Whether you are using her as your primary drive, or as a secondary drive paired with an SSD; The increase in performance is right there.
She might not perform on the same levels as an SSD but she more than holds her own ensuring she does not bring your transfer rates down as you move files over from one place to the other.
The WD Blue is the perfect companion when you need to increase some storage capacity in your system. Whether this is for gaming, random files, or for admin storage. She will handle it all gracefully.
She is more than worth her price tag if this is the capacity you are looking for.
